Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ يَعْقُوبَ بْنِ عَطَاءٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ مَاتَتْ شَاةٌ لِمَيْمُونَةَ فَقَالَ النَّبِيّ
ُ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ هَلَّا اسْتَمْتَعْتُمْ بِإِهَابِهَا فَقَالُوا إِنَّهَا مَيْتَةٌ فَقَالَ إِنَّ دِبَاغَ الْأَدِيمِ طُهُورُهُ

English Translation
It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) — via Rawh, from Shu'ba, from Ya'qub ibn 'Ata', from his father — that a sheep belonging to Maymunah died. the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Why did you not make use of its hide [ihab]?' They said: 'But it is a carcass [that died without proper slaughter].' He said: 'Tanning the hide is its purification.'
