English Translation
It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) — via 'Abd al-Samad, from Thabit, and via Hasan ibn Musa, from Thabit, from Hilal, from 'Ikrimah — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to spend consecutive nights — 'Abd al-Samad said: consecutive nights — going hungry [ta'iyan], as did his household, finding no evening meal. Their bread was mostly barley bread.
