حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ فُضَيْلٍ عَنْ خُصَيْفٍ حَدَّث
َنَا أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ صَلَّى بِنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلَاةَ الْخَوْفِ فَقَامُوا صَفَّيْنِ فَقَامَ صَفٌّ خَلْفَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَصَفٌّ مُسْتَقْبِلَ الْعَدُوِّ فَصَلَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِالصَّفِّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُ رَكْعَةً ثُمَّ قَامُوا فَذَهَبُوا فَقَامُوا مَقَامَ أُولَئِكَ مُسْتَقْبِلَ الْعَدُوِّ وَجَاءَ أُولَئِكَ فَقَامُوا مَقَامَهُمْ فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَكْعَةً ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ ثُمَّ قَامُوا فَصَلَّوْا لِأَنْفُسِهِمْ رَكْعَةً ثُمَّ سَلَّمُوا ثُمَّ ذَهَبُوا فَقَامُوا مَقَامَ أُولَئِكَ مُسْتَقْبِلَ الْعَدُوِّ وَرَجَعَ أُولَئِكَ إِلَى مَقَامِهِمْ فَصَلَّوْا لِأَنْفُسِهِمْ رَكْعَةً ثُمَّ سَلَّمُوا

English Translation
It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (رضي الله عنه) — via Muhammad ibn Fudayl, from Khusayf, from Abi 'Ubayda — that 'Abdullah said: 'the Messenger of Allah ﷺ led us in the fear prayer [salat al-khawf]. They stood in two ranks — one rank behind the Prophet ﷺ and one rank facing the enemy. the Messenger of Allah ﷺ led those nearest him in one rak'a. They then stood up, went to take the position of the others facing the enemy, and the others came and stood in their place. the Messenger of Allah ﷺ led them in one rak'a, then gave the salam. They then stood up and prayed one rak'a for themselves, then gave the salam. They then went to take the position of the others facing the enemy, and the others returned to their position and prayed one rak'a for themselves, then gave the salam.'
