Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْكَرِيمِ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي زِيَادُ بْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَعْقِلِ بْنِ مُقَرِّنٍ قَالَ دَخَلْتُ مَعَ أَبِي عَلَى عَبْدِ اللَّه
ِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ فَقَالَ أَنْتَ سَمِعْتَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ النَّدَمُ تَوْبَةٌ قَالَ نَعَمْ وَقَالَ مَرَّةً سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ النَّدَمُ تَوْبَةٌ

English Translation
It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (رضي الله عنه) — via Sufyan, from 'Abd al-Karim, from Ziyad ibn Abi Maryam, from 'Abdullah ibn Ma'qil ibn Muqarrin — that he said: 'I entered upon 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud with my father. [My father] said to him: Did you yourself hear the Prophet ﷺ say: Remorse is repentance [al-nadamu tawba]? He said: Yes.' And [the narrator] said on another occasion: 'I heard him say: Remorse is repentance.'
