حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَاصِمٍ عَنْ زِرٍّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ كُنَّا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي غَارٍ فَنَزَلَتْ عَلَيْهِ وَالْمُرْسَلَاتِ عُرْفًا فَأَخَذْتُهَا مِنْ فِيهِ وَإِنَّ فَاهُ لَرَطْبٌ بِهَا فَلَ
ا أَدْرِي بِأَيِّهَا خَتَمَ { فَبِأَيِّ حَدِيثٍ بَعْدَهُ يُؤْمِنُونَ } أَوْ { قِيلَ لَهُمْ ارْكَعُوا لَا يَرْكَعُونَ } سَبَقَتْنَا حَيَّةٌ فَدَخَلَتْ فِي جُحْرٍ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَدْ وُقِيتُمْ شَرَّهَا وَوُقِيَتْ شَرَّكُمْ

English Translation
It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (رضي الله عنه) — via Sufyan, from 'Asim, from Zirr — that 'Abdullah said: 'We were with the Prophet ﷺ in a cave when Surah al-Mursalat ['Urfa] [77] was revealed to him. I took it from his lips while his mouth was still moist with it. I do not know which verse he ended with — So in what discourse after this will they believe? [77:50] or When it is said to them: Bow down, they do not bow [77:48]. A snake rushed ahead of us and entered its hole. the Prophet ﷺ said: You have been protected from its evil, and it has been protected from your evil.'
