English Translation

It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (رضي الله عنه) — via Abu Bakr, from 'Asim, from Zirr ibn Hubaysh — that 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud said: 'Indeed Allah looked into the hearts of His servants and found the heart of Muhammad (ﷺ) to be the best of the servants' hearts, so He chose him for Himself and sent him with His message. Then He looked again into the hearts of the servants after Muhammad's heart and found the hearts of his Companions to be the best of the servants' hearts, so He made them ministers [wuzara'] of His Prophet — they fight for His religion. So whatever the Muslims consider good is good before Allah, and whatever they consider bad is bad before Allah.'
