English Translation

It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (رضي الله عنه) — via Waki', from Sufyan, from Hakim ibn Jubayr, from Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Yazid, from his father — that 'Abdullah said: 'the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Whoever begs while having what suffices him will come on the Day of Resurrection with scratches [or scabs — khudush or kudush] on his face. They said: O Messenger of Allah, what is [the amount that] suffices him? He said: Fifty dirhams — or their equivalent in gold.'
