English Translation

It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (رضي الله عنه) — via Muhammad, from Shu'ba, from Simak — that he said: 'I heard 'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Abdillah narrating from his father.' Shu'ba said: 'And I believe he attributed it to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ': 'The likeness of one who helps his clan in what is unjust is like a camel that fell into a well and is being pulled out by its tail [i.e., impossible and ruinous].'
