حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يَزِيدَ وَيُونُسُ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا دَاوُدُ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ عَنْ أَبِي الْأَعْيَنِ الْعَبْدِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي الْأَحْوَصِ الْجُشَمِيِّ عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُود
ٍ قَالَ سَأَلْنَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ الْقِرَدَةِ وَالْخَنَازِيرِ أَهِيَ مِنْ نَسْلِ الْيَهُودِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَمْ يَلْعَنْ قَوْمًا قَطُّ فَمَسَخَهُمْ فَكَانَ لَهُمْ نَسْلٌ حِينَ يُهْلِكُهُمْ وَلَكِنْ هَذَا خَلْقٌ كَانَ فَلَمَّا غَضِبَ اللَّهُ عَلَى الْيَهُودِ مَسَخَهُمْ فَجَعَلَهُمْ مِثْلَهُمْ

English Translation
It was narrated from Ibn Mas'ud (رضي الله عنه) — via 'Abdallah ibn Yazid and Yunus, both from Dawud, from Muhammad ibn Zayd, from Abi al-A'yan al-'Abdi, from Abi al-Ahwas al-Jushami — that Ibn Mas'ud said: 'We asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about apes and pigs — are they from the descendants of the Jews? the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Allah never cursed a people, transformed them, and left them with descendants when He destroyed them. Rather, this [species of ape and pig] is a creation that existed beforehand. When Allah grew angry with the Jews, He transformed them and made them resembling that existing creation.'
