حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النَّضْرِ حَدَّثَنَا الْمَسْعُودِيُّ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ جَعْدَةَ عَنْ أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ أَنَّ رَجُلًا أَتَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَل
َّمَ يَسْأَلُهُ عَنْ لَيْلَةِ الْقَدْرِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَيُّكُمْ يَذْكُرُ لَيْلَةَ الصَّهْبَاوَاتِ فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ أَنَا وَاللَّهِ أَذْكُرُهَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ بِأَبِي أَنْتَ وَأُمِّي وَإِنَّ فِي يَدَيَّ لَتَمَرَاتٍ أَتَسَحَّرُ بِهِنَّ مُسْتَتِرًا بِمُؤْخِرَةِ رَحْلِي مِنْ الْفَجْرِ وَذَلِكَ حِينَ طَلَعَ الْقَمَرُ

English Translation
It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (رضي الله عنه) — via Abu al-Nadr, from al-Mas'udi, from Sa'id ibn 'Amr ibn Ja'da, from Abi 'Ubayda — that 'Abdullah narrated: 'A man came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and asked him about Laylat al-Qadr. the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Which of you remembers the night of al-Sahbawat [the reddish-white night]? 'Abdullah said: By Allah, I remember it, O Messenger of Allah — may my father and mother be your ransom! In my hands were some dates that I was eating as my pre-dawn meal, sheltering behind the rear of my saddle-cushion from the [approaching] Fajr — and that was when the moon had risen.'
