English Translation
It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) — via al-Zuhri, from 'Ubaydullah ibn 'Abdullah ibn 'Utbah — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by a dead sheep belonging to Maymunah and said: 'Why did you not make use of its hide?' They said: 'But it is a carcass [died without proper slaughter]!' He said: 'Only its meat has been made forbidden.' Ma'mar said: 'Al-Zuhri disapproved of tanning, saying: [the hide] may be used in any case.'
