حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الثَّوْرِيُّ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ و
َسَلَّمَ قَالَ مَا مِنْكُمْ مِنْ أَحَدٍ إِلَّا وَمَعَهُ قَرِينُهُ مِنْ الْمَلَائِكَةِ وَمِنْ الْجِنِّ قَالُوا وَأَنْتَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ وَأَنَا إِلَّا أَنَّ اللَّهَ أَعَانَنِي عَلَيْهِ فَأَسْلَمَ وَلَا يَأْمُرُنِي إِلَّا بِخَيْرٍ

English Translation
It was narrated from Ibn Mas'ud (رضي الله عنه) — via Aswad ibn 'Amir, from Sufyan ibn Sa'id al-Thawri, from Mansur, from Salim ibn Abi al-Ja'd, from his father — that Ibn Mas'ud narrated from the Prophet ﷺ that he said: 'There is not one of you except that there is with him his companion from the angels and his companion from the jinn.' They said: 'And you, O Messenger of Allah?' He said: 'And me — except that Allah has helped me against mine and he has submitted [to Allah], so he commands me only to good.'
