حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ أَخْبَرَنِي الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ الْعَيْزَارِ بْنِ حُرَيْثٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَمْرٍو الشَّيْبَانِيَّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا صَاحِبُ هَذِهِ الدَّارِ وَأَشَارَ إِلَى دَارِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ وَلَمْ يُسَمِّهِ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْه
ِ وَسَلَّمَ أَيُّ الْعَمَلِ أَحَبُّ إِلَى اللَّهِ قَالَ الصَّلَاةُ عَلَى وَقْتِهَا قَالَ قُلْتُ ثُمَّ أَيٌّ قَالَ ثُمَّ بِرُّ الْوَالِدَيْنِ قَالَ قُلْتُ ثُمَّ أَيٌّ قَالَ ثُمَّ الْجِهَادُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ قَالَ فَحَدَّثَنِي بِهِنَّ وَلَوْ اسْتَزَدْتُهُ لَزَادَنِي

English Translation
'Affan ibn Muslim narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us, al-Walid ibn al-'Ayzar ibn Hurayth informed me, he said: I heard Abu 'Amr al-Shaybani say: The owner of this house narrated to us — and he pointed to the house of 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud — he said: I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ: Which deed is most beloved to Allah? He said: 'Prayer at its prescribed time.' I said: Then what? He said: 'Honoring one's parents.' I said: Then what? He said: 'Jihad in the cause of Allah.' He said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ told me these, and had I asked him for more, he would have given me more.
