English Translation

'Affan narrated to us, 'Abd al-Wahid narrated to us, Sulayman al-A'mash narrated to us, from Shaqiq ibn Salamah who said: 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud gave us a sermon and said: I have taken from the mouth of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ more than seventy surahs. And indeed, the Companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ know that I am among the most knowledgeable of them regarding the Book of Allah, yet I am not the best of them. And if I knew anyone more knowledgeable than me, I would travel to him. Shaqiq said: I sat in his circles and never heard anyone criticize him for that or object to it.
