English Translation

It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (رضي الله عنه) — via Yahya ibn Adam, from Isra'il, from Abi Ishaq, from 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Yazid — that he said: 'I was with 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud at Jam' [Muzdalifa]. He prayed the two prayers [Maghrib and 'Isha'] each separately — each with its own adhan and iqama — with dinner in between. And he prayed Fajr when dawn burst [sharply] — or he said: when someone said dawn has risen and another said it has not yet risen. Then he said: Indeed the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: These two prayers are shifted from their usual times in this place. People do not arrive at Jam' until they have entered 'Isha' time, and Fajr [is prayed] at this hour [early, at the very break of dawn].'
