حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي غَارٍ فَنَزَلَتْ وَالْمُرْسَلَاتِ عُرْفًا قَالَ فَإِنَّا نَتَلَقَّاهَا مِنْ فِيهِ فَخَرَجَتْ حَيَّةٌ مِنْ جُحْرِهَا فَابْتَدَر
ْنَاهَا فَسَبَقَتْنَا فَدَخَلَتْ جُحْرَهَا فَقَالَ وُقِيَتْ شَرَّكُمْ وَوُقِيتُمْ شَرَّهَا حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ مِثْلَهُ قَالَ وَإِنَّا لَنَتَلَقَّاهَا مِنْ فِيهِ رَطْبَةً

English Translation
It was narrated from 'Abdullah (رضي الله عنه) — via Yahya ibn Adam, from Isra'il, from Mansur, from Ibrahim, from 'Alqama — that 'Abdullah said: 'We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in a cave, and [the surah] 'By those sent forth in waves' [al-Mursalat, 77] was revealed. We were receiving it [fresh] from his mouth when a snake came out of its hole. We rushed toward it but it outran us and went back into its hole. He said: It was spared your evil and you were spared its evil.' — [A second chain] via Yahya ibn Adam, from Isra'il, from al-A'mash, from Ibrahim, from 'Alqama, from 'Abdullah — the same account; and he said: 'We were receiving it still moist from his mouth.'
