English Translation
It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) — via Zakariyya, from 'Amr ibn Dinar, from 'Ikrimah — that a man said: 'O Messenger of Allah, my mother has passed away — will it benefit her if I give charity on her behalf?' He said: 'Yes.' The man said: 'I have an orchard [makhraf] — and I take you as witness that I have given it as charity on her behalf.'
