English Translation
It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) — via al-Aswad ibn 'Amir, from Kamil, from Habib — that Ibn 'Abbas said: 'I spent the night at my maternal aunt Maymunah's [home].' He mentioned the hadith [about the night prayer]. He said: 'Then [the Prophet ﷺ] bowed, and I saw him say in his bowing: Subhana Rabbiya al-'Azim [Glory be to my Lord the Most Magnificent]. Then he raised his head and praised Allah as much as He willed. Then he prostrated, and he would say in his prostration: Subhana Rabbiya al-A'la [Glory be to my Lord the Most High]. Then he raised his head, and between the two prostrations he would say: Rabb ighfir li wa irhamni wa ajburni wa irfa'ni wa urzuqni wa ihdini [My Lord, forgive me, have mercy on me, repair my shortcomings, raise me in rank, provide for me, and guide me].'
