English Translation

It was narrated from 'Abdullah (رضي الله عنه) — via Muhammad ibn Ja'far and 'Affan, both from Shu'ba, from Abi Ishaq — 'Affan says: Abu Ishaq informed us, from al-Aswad; and Muhammad says: from Abi Ishaq who said: I heard al-Aswad narrate from 'Abdullah — from the Prophet ﷺ — that he recited Surah al-Najm [53] and then performed the prostration [of recitation], and all those with him prostrated — except an old man who took a handful of pebbles or dust, raised it to his forehead, and said: 'This is enough for me.' 'Abdullah said: 'I later saw him killed as an unbeliever.'
