حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ أَبِي قَيْسٍ عَنْ هُزَيْلٍ قَالَ جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى أَبِي مُوسَى وَسَلْمَانَ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ فَسَأَلَهُمَا عَنْ ابْنَةٍ وَابْنَةِ ابْنٍ وَأُخْتٍ فَقَالَا لِلْبِنْتِ النِّصْفُ وَلِلْأُخْتِ النِّصْفُ وَأْتِ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ فَإِنَّهُ سَيُتَابِعُنَا فَأَتَى عَبْدَ اللَّهِ فَأَخْبَ
رَهُ فَقَالَ قَدْ ضَلَلْتُ إِذًا وَمَا أَنَا مِنْ الْمُهْتَدِينَ لَأَقْضِيَنَّ فِيهَا بِقَضَاءِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَوْ قَالَ قَضَاءَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَذَا قَالَ سُفْيَانُ لِلْبِنْتِ النِّصْفُ وَلِابْنَةِ الِابْنِ السُّدُسُ وَمَا بَقِيَ فَلِلْأُخْتِ

English Translation
It was narrated from 'Abdullah (رضي الله عنه) — via 'Abd al-Rahman, from Sufyan, from Abi Qays, from Huzayl — that he said: 'A man came to Abu Musa and Salman ibn Rabi'a and asked them about [the inheritance of] a daughter, a son's daughter, and a sister. They said: The daughter gets half and the sister gets the remainder. Go to 'Abdullah — he will agree with us. He went to 'Abdullah and informed him. ['Abdullah] said: If [I ruled the same], then I would have gone astray and not be among the guided. I will judge in this with the judgment of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.' — Sufyan says: [the ruling is:] The daughter gets half, the son's daughter gets a sixth [completing the two-thirds share], and the remainder goes to the sister.'
