حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ قَالَ قَرَأْتُ عَلَى أَبِي حَدَّثَكُمْ عَمْرُو بْنُ مُجَمِّعٍ أَبُو الْمُنْذِرِ الْكِنْدِيُّ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَ
ا إِبْرَاهِيمُ الْهَجَرِيُّ عَنْ أَبِي الْأَحْوَصِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ جَعَلَ حَسَنَةَ ابْنِ آدَمَ بِعَشْرِ أَمْثَالِهَا إِلَى سَبْعِ مِائَةِ ضِعْفٍ إِلَّا الصَّوْمَ وَالصَّوْمُ لِي وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ وَلِلصَّائِمِ فَرْحَتَانِ فَرْحَةٌ عِنْدَ إِفْطَارِهِ وَفَرْحَةٌ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَلَخُلُوفُ فَمِ الصَّائِمِ أَطْيَبُ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ مِنْ رِيحِ الْمِسْكِ

English Translation
It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (رضي الله عنه) — via 'Amr ibn Mujammi' Abu al-Mundhir al-Kindi, from Ibrahim al-Hajari, from Abu al-Ahwas — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Indeed Allah (عز وجل) makes the good deed of Adam's son [worth] ten times its like up to seven hundred times — except for fasting. Fasting is for Me and I give the reward for it. And the fasting person has two joys: a joy at the time of breaking his fast, and a joy on the Day of Resurrection. And the smell of the mouth of the fasting person is more pleasant to Allah than the scent of musk.'
