حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ قَالَ قَرَأْتُ عَلَى أَبِي حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَاصِمٍ أَخْبَرَنِي عَطَاءُ بْنُ السَّائِبِ قَالَ أَتَيْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ فَإِذَا هُوَ
يَكْوِي غُلَامًا قَالَ قُلْتُ تَكْوِيهِ قَالَ نَعَمْ هُوَ دَوَاءُ الْعَرَبِ قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لَمْ يُنْزِلْ دَاءً إِلَّا وَقَدْ أَنْزَلَ مَعَهُ دَوَاءً جَهِلَهُ مِنْكُمْ مَنْ جَهِلَهُ وَعَلِمَهُ مِنْكُمْ مَنْ عَلِمَهُ

English Translation
It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (رضي الله عنه) — via 'Ali ibn 'Asim, from 'Ata' ibn al-Sa'ib — that he said: 'I came to Abu 'Abd al-Rahman [al-Sulami] and he was cauterizing a servant. I said: You are cauterizing him? He said: Yes — cauterization is the medicine of the Arabs. 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud [then narrated]: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Indeed Allah (عز وجل) has not sent down any disease except He has sent down with it a medicine — unknown to those of you who do not know it, and known to those of you who know it.'
