English Translation

It was narrated from 'Abdullah (رضي الله عنه) — via 'Umar ibn 'Ubayd, from Abu Ishaq, from Abu al-Ahwas — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would give salam to his right until the whiteness of his cheek became visible, saying 'al-salamu 'alaykum wa rahmatullah [Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah]', and to his left until the whiteness of his cheek became visible, saying 'al-salamu 'alaykum wa rahmatullah.'
