English Translation
It was narrated from Ibn Mas'ud (رضي الله عنه) — via 'Abd al-Razzaq, from Ibn Jurayj, from 'Abda ibn Abi Lubaba, from Shaqiq ibn Salama — that he said: 'I heard Ibn Mas'ud say: I heard the Prophet ﷺ say: How terrible it is for a man — or for a person — to say: I forgot such-and-such surah, or such-and-such verse. Rather, he was caused to forget.'
