حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ وَمَنْصُورٍ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الْغَارِ فَخَرَجَتْ عَلَيْنَا حَيَّةٌ فَتَبَادَ
رْنَاهَا فَسَبَقَتْنَا فَدَخَلَتْ الْجُحْرَ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وُقِيَتْ شَرَّكُمْ كَمَا وُقِيتُمْ شَرَّهَا قَالَ وَزَادَ الْأَعْمَشُ فِي الْحَدِيثِ قَالَ كُنَّا نَتَلَقَّاهَا مِنْ فِيهِ وَهِيَ رَطْبَةٌ

English Translation
It was narrated from 'Abdullah (رضي الله عنه) — via Aswad ibn 'Amir, from Isra'il, from al-A'mash and Mansur, from Ibrahim, from 'Alqama — that 'Abdullah said: 'We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the cave when a snake came out at us. We rushed toward it but it outran us and entered its hole. the Prophet ﷺ said: It was spared your evil just as you were spared its evil.' [The narrator] said: Al-A'mash added in his narration: 'We were receiving it [al-Mursalat] moist from his mouth.'
