حَدَّثَنَا شُجَاعُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَالِدٍ الَّذِي كَانَ يَكُونُ فِي بَنِي دَالَانَ يَزِيدُ الْوَاسِطِيُّ عَنْ طَلْقِ بْنِ حَبِيبٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَقْرَبٍ الْأَسَدِيِّ قَالَ أَتَيْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ مَسْعُودٍ فَوَجَدْتُهُ عَلَى إِنْجَازٍ لَهُ يَعْنِي سَطْحًا فَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ صَدَقَ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ فَصَعِدْتُ إِلَيْهِ فَقُلْتُ يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ مَا لَك
َ قُلْتَ صَدَقَ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ صَدَقَ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ قَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَبَّأَنَا أَنَّ لَيْلَةَ الْقَدْرِ فِي النِّصْفِ مِنْ السَّبْعِ الْأَوَاخِرِ وَإِنَّ الشَّمْسَ تَطْلُعُ صَبِيحَتَهَا لَيْسَ لَهَا شُعَاعٌ قَالَ فَصَعِدْتُ فَنَظَرْتُ إِلَيْهَا فَقُلْتُ صَدَقَ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ صَدَقَ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ

English Translation
It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (رضي الله عنه) — via Shuja' ibn al-Walid, from Abu Khalid Yazid al-Wasiti, from Talq ibn Habib, from Abu 'Aqrab al-Asadi — that he said: 'I came to 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud and found him on a rooftop [sath]. I heard him saying: "Allah and His Messenger have spoken the truth." I climbed up to him and said: "O Abu 'Abd al-Rahman, why do you say 'Allah and His Messenger have spoken the truth'?" He said: "the Messenger of Allah ﷺ informed us that Laylat al-Qadr falls in the middle night of the last seven [of Ramadan], and that the sun rises on the morning after it without rays [beams]." He said: "I climbed up and looked at it and said: 'Allah and His Messenger have spoken the truth! Allah and His Messenger have spoken the truth!'"'
