English Translation
Isma'il narrated to us, Ayyub informed us, from Nafi', from Ibn 'Umar who said regarding 'Ashura': 'the Messenger of Allah ﷺ fasted it and commanded its fasting. When Ramadan was made obligatory, it was abandoned (i.e., fasting 'Ashura' became voluntary).' And 'Abdullah (Ibn 'Umar) did not fast it unless it coincided with his regular fasting days.
