حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ أَخْبَرَنَا أَيُّوبُ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَثَلُكُمْ وَمَثَلُ الْيَهُودِ وَالنَّصَارَى كَرَجُلٍ اسْتَعْمَلَ عُمَّالًا فَقَالَ مَنْ يَعْمَلُ مِنْ صَلَاةِ الصُّبْحِ إِلَى نِصْفِ النَّهَارِ عَلَى قِيرَاطٍ قِيرَاطٍ أَلَا فَعَمِلَتْ الْيَهُودُ ثُمَّ قَالَ مَنْ يَعْمَلُ لِي مِنْ نِصْفِ النَّهَارِ إِلَى صَلَاةِ الْعَصْرِ عَلَى قِيرَاطٍ قِيرَاطٍ أَلَا فَعَمِلَتْ النَّصَارَ
ى ثُمَّ قَالَ مَنْ يَعْمَلُ لِي مِنْ صَلَاةِ الْعَصْرِ إِلَى غُرُوبِ الشَّمْسِ عَلَى قِيرَاطَيْنِ قِيرَاطَيْنِ أَلَا فَأَنْتُمْ الَّذِينَ عَمِلْتُمْ فَغَضِبَ الْيَهُودُ وَالنَّصَارَى قَالُوا نَحْنُ كُنَّا أَكْثَرَ عَمَلًا وَأَقَلَّ عَطَاءً قَالَ هَلْ ظَلَمْتُكُمْ مِنْ حَقِّكُمْ شَيْئًا قَالُوا لَا قَالَ فَإِنَّمَا هُوَ فَضْلِي أُوتِيهِ مَنْ أَشَاءُ
Isnad Chain
English Translation
Isma'il narrated to us, Ayyub informed us, from Nafi', from Ibn 'Umar who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'The example of you and the Jews and the Christians is like a man who employed workers and said: Who will work for me from the morning until midday for one qirat each? The Jews worked. Then he said: Who will work for me from midday until 'Asr prayer for one qirat each? The Christians worked. Then he said: Who will work for me from 'Asr until the sun sets for two qirats each? And you are the ones who work from 'Asr until sunset. The Jews and the Christians became angry and said: We did more work and got less pay. He said: Have I wronged you in any of your due? They said: No. He said: It is My favor, I bestow it upon whomever I will.'
