‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مَالِكٌ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏نَافِعٍ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ عُمَرَ ‏ ‏أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏نَهَى عَنْ ‏ ‏الشِّغَارِ ‏

English Translation

'Abd al-Rahman narrated to us, Malik narrated to us, from Nafi', from Ibn 'Umar, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade shighar — which is when a man gives his daughter in marriage to another on condition that the other gives his daughter to him in marriage, with no mahr (dowry) for either woman.
