Sufyan narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid who said: Ibn 'Umar witnessed the conquest (of Makkah) when he was twenty years old, and he had a stubborn horse and a heavy spear. Ibn 'Umar went to cut grass for his horse, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was addressing the people. the Prophet ﷺ was forbidding them from cutting the trees and plants of Makkah. Ibn 'Umar said: So I stopped, having not yet cut anything.
