حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ الْمِنْهَالِ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ

أَنَّهُ مَرَّ عَلَى قَوْمٍ وَقَدْ نَصَبُوا دَجَاجَةً حَيَّةً يَرْمُونَهَا فَقَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَعَنَ مَنْ مَثَّلَ بِالْبَهَائِمِ

English Translation

Abu Mu'awiyah narrated to us, from al-A'mash, from al-Minhal, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما): He passed by a group of people who had tied up a live hen and were shooting at it as a target. He said: 'Indeed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ cursed the one who does this [takes a living creature as a target].'
