English Translation
It was narrated from 'Abdullah (رضي الله عنه) — via Waki', from Sufyan, from al-A'mash, from Ibrahim, from 'Abida — that he said: 'the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me: Recite the Quran to me. I said: O Messenger of Allah, how can I recite it to you when it was revealed to you? He said: I desire to hear it from someone other than myself. So I began Surah al-Nisa' and recited it to him. When I reached: 'How then will it be when We bring from each nation a witness, and bring you [O Muhammad] as a witness over these' [4:41] — I looked at him and his eyes were flowing [with tears].'
