‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏سُفْيَانُ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي الْأَحْوَصِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏عَنْ النَّبِيِّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقُولُ ‏ ‏اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْهُدَى وَالتُّقَى ‏ ‏وَالْعِفَّةَ ‏ ‏وَالْغِنَى ‏

English Translation

It was narrated from 'Abdullah (رضي الله عنه) — via 'Abd al-Rahman, from Sufyan, from Abi Ishaq, from Abi al-Ahwas — from the Prophet ﷺ that he used to supplicate: 'O Allah, I ask You for guidance, piety, chastity, and independence [from all but You].'
