English Translation
It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما) — via al-Aswad ibn 'Amir, from Abu Bakr, from al-A'mash, from 'Ata' ibn Abi Rabah — that he said: 'I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "When people become miserly with dinars and dirhams, trade in deferred credit ['ina], follow the tails of cattle [i.e., are consumed by worldly affairs], and abandon jihad in the path of Allah — Allah will send down affliction upon them and will not lift it from them until they return to their religion."'
