English Translation

It was narrated — via Muhammad ibn Abi 'Adiy, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq — that he [Ibn Ishaq] said: 'I mentioned [this] to Ibn Shihab, and he said: Salim informed me that 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما) used to do that [i.e., not allow leather socks while in ihram]. Then Safiyya bint Abi 'Ubayd narrated to him that 'A'isha had narrated to her that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to give a concession to women [to wear] leather socks [while in ihram].'
