حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ
إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ وَذَكَرْتُ لِابْنِ شِهَابٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي سَالِمٌ أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ قَدْ كَانَ يَصْنَعُ ذَاكَ ثُمَّ حَدَّثَتْهُ صَفِيَّةُ بِنْتُ أَبِي عُبَيْدٍ أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ حَدَّثَتْهَا أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يُرَخِّصُ لِلنِّسَاءِ فِي الْخُفَّيْنِ

English Translation
It was narrated — via Muhammad ibn Abi 'Adiy, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq — that he [Ibn Ishaq] said: 'I mentioned [this] to Ibn Shihab, and he said: Salim informed me that 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما) used to do that [i.e., not allow leather socks while in ihram]. Then Safiyya bint Abi 'Ubayd narrated to him that 'A'isha had narrated to her that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to give a concession to women [to wear] leather socks [while in ihram].'
