English Translation
It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما) — via Muhammad ibn 'Ubayd, from 'Ubayd Allah, from Nafi' — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw phlegm [nakhama] in the direction of the qibla in the mosque and scraped it off. He then turned to the people and said: 'When one of you is in prayer, let him not spit in the direction of his face, for Allah (تعالى) is in the direction of the face of each of you when he is in prayer.'
