حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ أَخْبَرَنَا أَصْبَغُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بِشْرٍ عَنْ أَبِي الزَّاهِرِيَّةِ عَنْ كَثِيرِ بْنِ مُرَّةَ الْحَضْرَمِيِّ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَنْ احْتَكَرَ طَعَامًا أَرْبَعِينَ لَيْلَةً فَقَدْ بَرِئَ مِنْ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى وَبَرِئَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى مِنْهُ وَأَيُّمَا أَهْلُ عَرْصَةٍ أَصْبَحَ فِيهِمْ امْرُؤٌ جَائِعٌ فَقَدْ بَرِئَتْ مِنْهُمْ ذِمَّةُ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى
English Translation
It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما) — via Yazid, from Asbagh ibn Zayd, from Abu Bishr, from Abu al-Zahiriyya, from Kathir ibn Murra al-Hadrami — from the Prophet ﷺ — that he said: 'Whoever hoards food for forty nights has disavowed himself of Allah (تعالى) and Allah (تعالى) has disavowed Himself of him. And whatever locality wakes up with a hungry person among its people — Allah's (تعالى) protection [dhimma] is withdrawn from them.'
