English Translation
It was narrated — via Yazid ibn Harun, from Ibn Abi Dhi'b, from 'Uthman ibn 'Abdullah ibn Suraqa — that he said: 'We were on a journey and Ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما) was with us. I asked him [about voluntary prayers during travel], and he said: "I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ not perform any [optional] prayers before or after [the obligatory] prayer during travel." I also asked Ibn 'Umar about the sale of fruit. He said: "the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade the sale of fruit until the blight departs." I said: "O Abu 'Abd al-Rahman, and when does the blight depart — what is the blight?" He said: "The rising of the Pleiades [al-Thurayya]."'
