English Translation

It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما) — via Muhammad ibn Ja'far and Hajjaj [same meaning], from Shu'ba, from Muslim ibn Abi Maryam — from 'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Ali [al-Umawi] — that he said: 'I heard Ibn 'Umar — and he had seen a man fidgeting in his prayer — say: "Do not fidget in your prayer, and do as the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to do."' — Muhammad [ibn Ja'far] added: Ibn 'Umar placed his right thigh on his left, his left hand on his left knee, his right hand on his right [knee], and pointed with his finger [i.e., raised the index finger in tashahhud].
