English Translation
'Abdullah said: I found these hadiths in my father's book in his own handwriting — and they continue until the hadith of Ishaq ibn Yusuf al-Azraq. Yazid ibn Harun narrated to us, Shu'bah informed us, from Jabalah ibn Suhaym who said: I was with Ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما), and a severe famine afflicted the people. We were given dates and he would eat, and he forbade us from pairing two dates together [eating two at once], then said: 'the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade pairing [eating two at a time] unless a person asks permission from his companion.'
