Hadith #372
Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ جَابِرٍ سَمِعْتُ سَالِمَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ يُحَدِّثُ أَنَّهُ رَأَى أَبَاهُ يَرْفَعُ يَدَيْهِ إِذَا كَبَّرَ وَإِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَرْكَعَ وَإِذَا رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ مِنْ الرُّكُوعِ فَسَأَلْتُهُ عَنْ ذَلِكَ فَزَعَمَ أَنَّهُ رَأَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَصْنَعُهُ
English Translation
Muhammad ibn Ja'far narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us, from Jabir, I heard Salim ibn 'Abdullah narrating that he saw his father [Ibn 'Umar] (رضي الله عنهما) raise his hands when he started the prayer with takbir, when he was about to bow in ruku', and when he raised his head from ruku'. He said: 'the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to do this.'
