English Translation

'Abd al-Rahman narrated to us, from Sufyan — and Ishaq, meaning al-Azraq, said: Sufyan narrated to us — from al-Aswad ibn Qays, from Sa'id ibn 'Amr, from Ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما), from the Prophet ﷺ who said: 'We are an illiterate nation — we do not write nor calculate. The month is like this and like this,' meaning sometimes twenty-nine and sometimes thirty.
