Chain of Narration (Isnad)

حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ عَنْ إِسْرَائِيلَ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنِ النَّجْرَانِيِّ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا أَنَّ رَجُلَيْنِ تَبَايَعَا عَلَى عَهْد

ِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَخْلًا قَبْلَ أَنْ تَطْلُعَ الثَّمَرَةُ فَلَمْ تُطْلِعْ شَيْئًا فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى أَيِّ شَيْءٍ تَأْكُلُ مَالَهُ وَنَهَى عَنْ بَيْعِ الثَّمَرِ حَتَّى يَبْدُوَ صَلَاحُهُ

English Translation

It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما) — via Waki', from Isra'il, from Abu Ishaq, from al-Najrani — that two men transacted a sale of palm trees in the time of the Prophet ﷺ before the fruit had appeared, and it produced nothing. the Prophet ﷺ said: 'On what basis do you consume his wealth?' And he forbade the sale of fruit until its soundness [ripeness] becomes apparent.
