حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ أَبِي قُرَّةَ حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ بِلَالٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ و
َسَلَّمَ قَالَ مَنْ كَانَ حَالِفًا فَلَا يَحْلِفْ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَكَانَتْ قُرَيْشٌ تَحْلِفُ بِآبَائِهَا فَقَالَ لَا تَحْلِفُوا بِآبَائِكُمْ

English Translation
It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما) — via 'Ubayd ibn Abi Qurra, from Sulayman ibn Bilal, from 'Abdullah ibn Dinar — from the Prophet ﷺ — that he said: 'Whoever must swear, let him swear only by Allah (عز وجل).' Quraysh used to swear by their fathers, so he said: 'Do not swear by your fathers.'
