قَالَ أَبِي وَأَخْبَرَنَا يَعْنِي يَزِيدَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا يَحْيَى عَ

نْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ كَانَ يَقُولُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَنْ أَعْتَقَ نَصِيبًا لَهُ فِي إِنْسَانٍ أَوْ مَمْلُوكٍ كُلِّفَ عِتْقَ بَقِيَّتِهِ فَإِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ مَالٌ يُعْتِقُهُ بِهِ فَقَدْ جَازَ مَا عَتَقَ

English Translation

It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما) — via Yazid, from Yahya, from Nafi' — that he said: 'the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to say: "Whoever frees his share in a person — or in a slave held in partnership — is made responsible for freeing the remainder. If he has no wealth with which to free him, then what has been freed is [still] valid."'
