English Translation

It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما) — via Muhammad ibn Ja'far, from Shu'ba, from 'Abdullah ibn Dinar — that he said: 'I heard Ibn 'Umar say: "When we pledged allegiance to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ for hearing and obeying, he would prompt us [with the phrase]: 'To the best of my ability.'"'
