Hadith #266
Arabic Text
وَلَقَدْ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ لَئِنْ أَنْتُمْ اتَّبَعْتُمْ أَذْنَابَ الْبَقَرِ وَتَبَايَعْتُمْ بِالْعِينَةِ وَتَرَكْتُمْ الْجِهَادَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ لَيُلْزِمَنَّكُمْ اللَّهُ مَذَلَّةً فِي أَعْنَاقِكُمْ ثُمَّ لَا تُنْزَعُ مِنْكُمْ حَتَّى تَرْجِعُونَ إِلَى مَا كُنْتُمْ عَلَيْهِ وَتَتُوبُونَ إِلَى اللَّهِ
English Translation
[Ibn 'Umar continued:] 'And I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "If you follow the tails of cows, engage in 'ina transactions [a form of usurious sale], and abandon jihad in the path of Allah — Allah will impose a humiliation upon your necks that will not be lifted from you until you return to what you were upon and repent to Allah."'
