حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْمُثَنَّى يُحَدِّثُ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ كَانَ الْأَذَانُ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى
اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى وَالْإِقَامَةُ وَاحِدَةً غَيْرَ أَنَّ الْمُؤَذِّنَ كَانَ إِذَا قَالَ قَدْ قَامَتْ الصَّلَاةُ قَالَ قَدْ قَامَتْ الصَّلَاةُ مَرَّتَيْنِ

English Translation
It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما) — via 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Mahdi, from Shu'ba, from Abu Ja'far — who heard Abu al-Muthanna narrate from Ibn 'Umar — that he said: 'In the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, the adhan was [called] two by two, and the iqama once — except that the muezzin, when he said: "Qad qamat al-salah", would say it twice.'
