حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ سَالِمٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ

صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا يُقِمْ أَحَدُكُمْ أَخَاهُ فَيَجْلِسَ فِي مَجْلِسِهِ قَالَ سَالِمٌ فَكَانَ الرَّجُلُ يَقُومُ لِابْنِ عُمَرَ مِنْ مَجْلِسِهِ فَمَا يَجْلِسُ فِي مَجْلِسِهِ

English Translation

It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما) — via 'Abd al-Razzaq, from Ma'mar, from al-Zuhri, from Salim — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Let none of you displace his brother [from his seat] and then sit in his place.' Salim said: 'A man would stand from his seat for Ibn 'Umar, but he would never sit in it [the vacated seat].'
