حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ شَقِيقٍ الْعُقَيْلِيِّ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّ رَجُلًا مِن
ْ أَهْلِ الْبَادِيَةِ سَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ صَلَاةِ اللَّيْلِ فَقَالَ بِإِصْبَعَيْهِ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى وَالْوَتْرُ رَكْعَةٌ مِنْ آخِرِ اللَّيْلِ

English Translation
'Affan narrated to us, Hammam narrated to us, Qatadah narrated to us, from Abdullah ibn Shaqiq al-'Uqayli, from Ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما), that a man from the Bedouins asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about the night prayer. He said: 'Two by two. When you fear the dawn approaching, pray one rak'ah as witr for what you have prayed.'
